“So the issue being presented is my spouse cheated. I’m sorry to hear that. Within my wheelhouse, which is family law, not too much to do about it. Believe it or not, California is what they call a no-fault state, meaning that if someone is unfaithful during the marriage, it really doesn’t affect the divorce.

It could affect the divorce if for example someone had a paramour and then they were paying that person money, funneling it through a business or paying rent or something like that, but generally speaking in a no-fault state, especially a state like California; especially Southern California where there’s a high rate of infidelity, it has no impact.

A lot of people don’t like that answer. It seems counterintuitive, but in California, that’s the law.”
